Onshore Excursion Tour 1: Windtestfeld Nord (Wind Farm in der Südermarsch)
The Windtestfeld Nord, located in the Südermarsch near Husum, was established in 2013 and currently offers six sites for testing wind turbine prototypes, with plans for expansion.
Manufacturers with proven regional value creation in Schleswig-Holstein can apply for a test site, subject to an evaluation by the Wind Energy Technology Institute (WETI) at Flensburg University of Applied Sciences and a decision by the allocation committee. The facility is municipally owned and operates on a non-profit basis. Sites are typically allocated for a period of 10 years. Starting in 2027, following the decommissioning of three prototypes, new test locations will become available again.
