Condition monitoring for frequency converters
CTSAnalytics is a software solution that specializes in condition monitoring of frequency converters in the wind industry. The aim is to identify potential faults and failures at an early stage before they lead to unplanned downtime.
Functionality and data analysis
The software continuously analyzes various measurement data from the frequency converters.
A constant deviation from target values is the first indication that components are reaching the end of their service life. CTSAnalytics not only monitors voltages, currents, and temperatures, but also places a special focus on the switching times of circuit breakers and contactors.
For example, the switching operations are counted and compared with the maximum mechanical switching operations specified by the manufacturer. By combining switching times and the number of switching operations, the software can make a precise statement about the wear status of the components. This makes it possible to assess whether a component can continue to be operated safely beyond its theoretical service life or whether there is a risk of premature failure.
Predictive maintenance and increased efficiency
The collected and analyzed data enables predictive maintenance. This means that critical components can be replaced before a failure occurs. This is particularly important during periods of high wind, as it ensures maximum energy yield.
Another key advantage of the software is the comparison of several turbines of the same type. This comparison makes wear predictions more realistic and helps with inventory management, for example, by ensuring that the right spare parts are available at the right time.
Comparing system data can also indicate incorrect commissioning settings, for example. If one system continuously generates less yield than others under the same wind conditions and without shading, the software can highlight this. This allows the efficiency of the systems to be identified and adjusted accordingly.
