The presentation highlights the strategic framework and political decisions shaping the production, transport, and use of green hydrogen. It introduces the diverse actors engaged in the field, including many pioneering medium-sized enterprises that are laying the foundation for an integrated hydrogen economy in Schleswig-Holstein.
A particular focus is placed on the role of hydrogen in the transformation process as well as on sector coupling between electricity, heat, mobility, and industry. In addition, issues of competitiveness and Schleswig-Holstein’s positioning—for example regarding water availability—are addressed.
In doing so, the presentation illustrates how the state can harness its unique potential in the coming years to actively shape the transition to a climate-neutral economy.
