Daniel Hautmann is a freelance journalist, author, and podcast producer based in Hamburg. For more than 20 years, he has been reporting on technology, energy, and the environment – with a particular focus on sustainable innovations such as wind power, modern cargo ships, and bicycle design. Trained first as an industrial mechanic, with professional experience in the USA and Stuttgart, he later completed a degree in specialized journalism in Hamburg. His work has appeared in renowned outlets including Technology Review, brand eins, Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung, and Stern. Under his label Honig & Gold, he produces audio content and serves as a jury member for the EEHH Media Award. He is also the author of the specialist book Windkraft neu gedacht. In 2025, he was honored with the prestigious UMSICHT Science Award.
