Large-scale and heavy transport in wind energy: Use of inland waterway vessels in Germany – challenges and opportunities
Can inland waterway transport in Germany contribute to the optimization of supply chains in the wind energy industry? What challenges and potential does inland waterway transport currently offer? This presentation provides a well-founded overview.
We provide insight into the use of inland waterway vessels for transporting wind turbines in Germany. Specific challenges, such as infrastructure requirements, approval procedures, and coordination with other modes of transport, are analyzed, as are the potential benefits of inland waterway transport as a sustainable and efficient transport solution. The aim is to provide a well-founded overview of the logistical framework conditions and to identify opportunities for inland waterway transport to contribute to the optimization of supply chains in the wind energy industry.
