How can the H2 market ramp-up succeed? Problem analysis and impetus for success (Lecture language: English)
Why is the hydrogen ramp-up stagnating and how can it be revived? The first question is answered by a quantitative economic analysis. Looking to the future, possible solutions are identified and evaluated – honestly and with a clear appeal to policymakers.
The presentation analyses the main reason why the hydrogen market is not taking off as planned: a lack of economic viability in most application sectors. To this end, hydrogen market prices are matched against the willingness to pay of various sectors, taking subsidies into account.
In the second part of the presentation, solution tools such as the green gas quota or new subsidy mechanisms such as H2Global for Germany are analysed and evaluated.
Finally, there is an appeal to political decision-makers: reducing GHG emissions and low energy prices can only be achieved with systematic subsidies.
