Cybersecurity on the rise: How wind power operators are meeting the increased NIS2 requirements
As critical systems in the energy transition, wind turbines are subject to the legal requirements of the EU NIS2 Directive. (Presentation in German)
Owners and operators must not only secure their IT, but above all their remote control and operational technology (OT) directly at the turbines against unauthorized access, as this is where the critical processes take place. The presentation outlines existing attack vectors and widespread security risks in OT networks. OT security expert Klaus Mochalski concludes by explaining how a lean intrusion detection system developed specifically for OT networks and assets can be used to ensure compliance as well as detect and mitigate attacks and technical errors.
