Technology meets precision

World's tallest crawler crane successfully prepared for construction of GICON® high-altitude wind tower - a significant milestone for the entire assembly concept.

GICON-Großmann Ingenieur Consult GmbH
Dresden, Germany

At the construction site of the world's tallest wind turbine, GICON® engineers have successfully erected the Liebherr LR 11350 crawler crane – a significant milestone for the entire assembly concept.

🔧 Impressive technology:
With a maximum lifting capacity of 1,350 tons, the LR 11350 is one of the most powerful crawler cranes in the world. The LR 11350 offers hook heights of up to 220 m. For the upcoming assembly work on the GICON® high-altitude wind tower, the crane boom has now been gradually erected to a final height of 175 meters.

🔧 Safety first:
The lifting process was planned and carried out in accordance with the highest safety standards:

✅ Clear definition and implementation of a safety radius during the lifting process
✅ Geotechnical approval to check stability – essential given the enormous loads
✅ Active monitoring of the process by safety officers: checking the rope guide, testing the crane stability, and checking stability

A team of around 30 people was involved in the erection process, which lasted several days, and we would like to thank them for their excellent coordination.

With the LR 11350, we have the right tool to lift the GICON®-HWT safely and efficiently. 🚀
