Redisigned phase modules for GE 1.x MW wind turbines
An in-house development is intended to remedy the bottleneck in the market for phase modules for GE 1.x MW wind turbines. These are verified quality products that are available quickly and cost-efficient. All the ESS and Non-ESS variants are available for both the rotor and grid sides.
Improved efficiency and availability of phase modules
ConverterTec reports improved efficiency and availability of the new developed phase modules in direct comparison with the familiar standard products.
How is this achieved?
The newly developed modules use state-of-the-art Trenchstop IGBT4 technology from Infineon, which offers excellent static and dynamic performance.
Furthermore, the entire electrical and mechanical design has been revised.
The combination of lower peak currents of the free-wheeling diode, lower conduction losses and lower junction temperatures, as well as improved heat dissipation of the newly developed mechanical design, ensure a long service life and good efficiency.
Optimized current distribution with minimal switching losses and improved overvoltage and lockout protection also contribute to improved durability.
Of course, the newly developed modules are 1:1 replaceable with the phase modules in the converter and also work together without any problems in mixed operation with existing old phase modules. Extensive field tests confirm this trouble-free operation.
