Independent 8.2 Inspections & Technical Assessments – Onshore as well as Offshore: Offshore Wind Park "EnBW He Dreiht"

April 24, 2025 marked the start of construction of the first turbine of the largest offshore wind farm to date “EnBW He Dreiht” with a total of 64 wind turbines - marking also the start of the critical phase of offshore work for 8.2!

Hamburg, Germany

A total of 64 Vestas V236-15.0 MW turbines will be installed – currently the most powerful wind turbines on the market. The wind farm, located about 110 kilometers west of Helgoland, will consist of 64 Vestas V236-15.0 MW turbines – currently the most powerful offshore turbine available on the market. "He Dreiht" is the largest offshore wind project currently under construction in Germany.

Since the start of the project, 8.2 Consulting AG has been responsible for monitoring the quality of the turbine manufacturing process. With over 15 years of experience in offshore wind turbine inspections, the company has supported multiple turbine generations from prototype stage through to serial production.

For “He Dreiht” – a name that translates from Low German as “He turns” – 8.2 Consulting AG has been in charge of quality assurance during the production phase from the beginning. Since March 2024, 8.2 inspectors have been deployed along the global supply chain to assess components such as cast parts, electrical systems, and other critical elements directly at the manufacturing sites.

They are supported by experts from the wider 8.2 Group who bring specialized knowledge in areas such as surface protection, electrical engineering, and bearing technology.

The team is currently focusing on the Danish port cities of Esbjerg and Munkebo, where the pre-assembly of the turbines takes place. 8.2 is on-site with several inspectors, up to six days a week, checking assembly work, documenting findings, and carrying out final walk-downs together with the manufacturer before the turbines are shipped offshore. The close proximity to the production sites and the high level of on-site presence allow for continuous technical oversight.

The successful installation of the first turbine in late April 2025 confirms the effectiveness of this approach.

Lukas Müller, Offshore Team Lead and Project Manager at 8.2 Consulting AG, explains:
"Teamwork on this project is excellent. Everyone contributes, and we all work toward the same goal. The project is demanding, but it also drives us forward. We overcome the challenges with dedication and practical, solution-oriented thinking.”

The client also values 8.2’s contribution. Helge Westphalen, Quality Assurance Manager Offshore at EnBW Energie Baden-Württemberg AG, notes:
“With 8.2 inspectors on the shop floor, we get a real-time and uncompromising view of our product quality. Their deep technical understanding combined with genuine commitment turns routine checks into measurable improvements. They are an integral part of our team.”

Inspections at the Danish production sites are expected to continue until spring 2026, when all 64 turbines are scheduled to be installed. At that point, the wind farm “He Dreiht” will truly live up to its name.
