Early wind ramp detection with the new WindRanger 25k - live at HUSUM WIND 2025
With the new WindRanger 25k lidar system, changes in the wind field can be measured over distances of more than 25 kilometers. At HUSUM WIND 2025, we will be presenting this device for the first time at our stand 0F14 in the outdoor area and showing measurement examples.
Reliable forecasts of wind power are crucial for the integration of wind energy into the electricity grid - especially in the offshore sector with its high power density. As part of the WindRamp II project funded by the BMWE, METEK was commissioned to supply a WindRanger 25k, the prototype of a wind lidar with a particularly long range.
This prototype is nearing completion and has already achieved ranges of more than 30 km in initial tests. At our stand in the outdoor area of HUSUM WIND 2025, we will be presenting a model of the WindRanger 25k for the first time and showing real-time measurements from our company site in Elmshorn.
