ProTecBird is a German technology company specializing in the protection of birds through the use of artificial intelligence (AI). Our unique approach combines advanced technologies with in-depth ornithological expertise to develop innovative solutions for environmental protection. Since our founding in November 2021 in Husum, we have established ourselves as pioneers in a dynamically growing market.
Our focus lies in developing AI-based technologies for the renewable energy, aviation, and industrial sectors. The solutions we create not only provide effective protection for birds but also offer significant benefits for human infrastructure by aligning environmental protection with economic interests.
ProTecBird was co-founded by BioConsult SH, an independent ecological research and consulting company based in Husum since 1998. The close collaboration with BioConsult SH in the form of a joint venture provides ProTecBird with a strong foundation of scientific expertise and technological innovation.
In 2024, ProTecBird successfully transitioned from a start-up to a scale-up. Under the leadership of Managing Director Thorsten Heinzen, the company has built a solid foundation for sustainable growth, supported by a dynamically expanding team of 30 full-time employees and 40 freelancers. Alongside market-ready innovations, we have established a high-performance industrial structure and successfully entered international markets. Renowned clients from the wind energy, aviation, and industrial sectors already rely on our AI technologies.
