Early wind ramp detection with the new WindRanger 25k - live at HUSUM WIND 2025
With the new WindRanger 25k lidar system, wind changes can be detected at distances of over 30 kilometers. At HUSUM WIND 2025, we will be showing first live measurements of the prototype at our stand 0F14 in the outdoor area.
Reliable wind power forecasts are crucial for the integration of wind energy into the power grid - especially in the offshore sector with its high wind power density. As part of the WindRamp and WindRamp II projects funded by the BMWK, RWE commissioned a prototype with a particularly long measuring range: the WindRanger 25k.
This prototype is close to completion and has already achieved ranges of more than 30 km in initial tests. We will be presenting the WindRanger 25k in live operation for the first time at HUSUM WIND 2025. At our stand in the outdoor area, we will be carrying out real-time measurements and providing insights into the technology and potential applications of the system.
