Wind energy is considered a key technology for the energy transition – yet the construction of wind turbines is often viewed critically, not least due to the environmentally harmful and CO₂-intensive production processes. This is precisely where we, as an innovative company, step in – continuously moving forward toward greater sustainability.
With our many years of experience and ongoing development, we are a market and technology leader in hybrid towers reaching hub heights of up to 199 meters. From planning and development to installation, we deliver sustainable solutions from a single source – actively contributing to a greener energy future. Our ability to achieve hub heights of up to 199 meters with the Bögl Hybrid Tower lies in our unique combination of concrete and steel. While the concrete ensures stability and reliably transfers the increasing loads, our smart mix of materials helps us avoid the impact of fluctuating steel prices.
For the mix of our self-compacting concrete, we rely on limestone and ground granulated blast furnace slag from our own production. Thanks to this composition, we are already able to substitute up to 70% of the cement content today. Our in-house research and development team is working to further increase this savings potential in the future. In addition to cost savings, the motivation behind this is also CO₂ reduction in concrete production – a direct and active contribution to climate protection.
A key figure that visualizes this sustainability is our Return on Energy (RoE). The RoE of our hybrid tower is approximately 61 days – meaning that the wind turbine produces more energy after just 61 days than was used for the production and installation of the hybrid tower. A wind turbine can ideally produce green electricity for up to 25 years; our hybrid tower reaches its RoE in just 61 days – an impressive figure and a major step toward clean energy.
