Championing renewable energy together: HUSUM Wind cooperates with Intersolar and presents its Wind Pavilion at India’s biggest solar trade fair

HUSUM | Mumbai/Pforzheim/Freiburg – Strong partners for energy transition in India: HUSUM Wind and Intersolar have entered into a strategic partnership. From 19 – 21 October 2016, HUSUM Wind will be showing at Intersolar India with the Wind Pavilion, a joint stand for wind energy enterprises and institutions.

13.04.2016 // Intersolar India is India’s biggest trade fair and conference for the solar industry, and is held annually at the Bombay Exhibition Centre (BEC) in Mumbai. Both the trade fair and the conference concentrate on photovoltaics, photovoltaic production engineering, energy storage systems and solar heating. In 2015 Intersolar India registered 200 international exhibitors and around 11,000 trade visitors. At the accompanying conference, over 100 speakers and an audience of 680 participants discussed current industry topics and gave an insight into the background of the technological, market and political developments.

Through the cooperation with HUSUM Wind the organisers of Intersolar India are enhancing their expertise in the field of renewable energy. They are closing the gap for many attendees who are interested in technology and know-how from the wind sector. There is great long-term potential for wind power in India: the Indian government has set itself ambitious targets for the expansion of wind and solar energy in the coming years.

Great growth in the wind and photovoltaic sectors in India

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has declared energy to be an issue dealt with at top-level, and the dynamics involved are correspondingly great. An important expansion component is renewable energy, primarily wind power and photovoltaics, and both these energy types grew appropriately in recent years: in 2015 new wind energy builds totalled 2.6 gigawatts (GW). Meeting the government’s ambitious targets will require an annual investment of around 16.5 billion US dollars until 2020. This represents an annual expansion of c. 5 GW. In comparison, in Germany’s record year 2014 new wind turbines in Germany totalled 4.4 GW. India is currently the world’s 5th country when it comes to total wind capacity.

The figures for the solar industry are similarly impressive, growing by 1.4 GW in 2015. The planned expansion in 2016 is 4 to 6 GW – which would bring India up into 4th place of the world’s top solar markets. With a high level of sunshine, a lot of open space and a constantly growing need for energy, India is one of the most attractive locations for solar energy.

Against this background of dynamic growth of the Indian wind and solar industries, many Indian businesses are active in both sectors, producing products, solutions and services for wind turbines as well as solar plants. These are perfect conditions for investment by enterprises wanting to discover the Indian market and the new cooperation between Intersolar India and HUSUM Wind.

Communal stand and congress day on the subject of wind energy

Around 230 exhibitors and over 11,000 visitors are expected at Intersolar India in the Bombay Exhibition Centre in Mumbai between 19 and 21 October. HUSUM Wind is organising its own wind pavilion for businesses and institutions from the wind energy sector.

Visitors to the one-day specialist conference will have the opportunity to discuss the various facets of wind energy and the current and future challenges facing the Indian wind energy market with international experts. Husum is also planning a delegation trip to India with well-known representatives of politics and industry.

With this initiative, which includes a communal exhibition stand, conference programme and a delegation trip to various places in India, HUSUM Wind is offering the opportunity to find out about the Indian wind market, establish new contacts and cultivate old ones. Anyone interested in taking part should contact Lars Kessler, sales director at HUSUM Wind (kessler@messehusum.de).
