Award for HUSUM Wind

At the traditional May meeting and asparagus dinner of the WindEnergieZirkel Hanse e.V. at the Übersee-Club in Hamburg the "Golden Asparagus 2014" was awarded to the HUSUM Wind trade fair.

28.05.2014 // Founded in 2005 and domiciled at the Flensburg University of Applied Science, WindEnergieZirkel Hanse is an inherent part of the North German wind industry. Representatives of all fields of the wind industry combined to establish this circle, and they include wind turbine manufacturers, energy producers and research institutions, banks, specialist engineering service providers and lawyers.

As well as the Wind 2014 Prize, awarded this year to Marion Christ for her master's dissertation on the "Strategic Prioritisation of Wind Energy Projects, the circle has also awarded the "Golden Asparagus" since 2012. The trophy is made by apprentices from E.ON Hanse, and is awarded for special recognition of achievements in or services to the wind industry. ("Asparagus" is the light-hearted German colloquial term for wind turbines)

Prof Klaus Rave proposed the Husum trade fair for the prize because it is the "mother of all wind trade fairs", and its significance in the current expo climate. It was also given on behalf of all wind trade fairs. The prize was accepted by Peter Becker, managing director of Messe Husum & Congress.
