HUSUM WindEnergy launches interactive wind map online
North Frisia: The wind energy showroomHusum, 25 April 2012 – The new interactive wind map on the HUSUM WindEnergy website shows that the west coast of Schleswig-Holstein is one gigantic wind energy showroom, with around 1,400 turbines providing over one million kilowatts. The map shows all the wind turbines in the region around Husum, and will make visitors to HUSUM WindEnergy, the world’s leading wind trade fair (18-22 September 2012), acutely aware that they are in the middle of a massive wind turbine spectacle.
The wind-rich west coast of Schleswig-Holstein is considered to be Germany’s leading area for wind energy generation, with the greatest turbine density the country. 1,393 wind turbines, with a total capacity of 1,170,394 kilowatts (as of January 2012) are all located within a radius of just 60 kilometres of Husum. The new interactive wind map presents data collected from turbine operators especially for this purpose by the Flensburg Chamber of Trade and Industry at the end of 2011. The map shows all the turbine sites, including turbine type and installed capacity.
The wind industry’s leading international trade fair in mid-September 2012 is expected to draw 1,200 exhibitors and 36,000 visitors from 90 nations to Husum. “We have drawn up this wind map to underline the importance of North Frisia as a wind power region”, states Peter Becker, managing director of Messe Husum & Congress. The data shown on the wind map demonstrates the potential that Husum offers as an exhibition venue in the middle of what is effectively a giant wind energy stage.
Visitors will have the opportunity to see many of the products on show in actual operation nearby. Just a short drive into the surrounding countryside will give investors a far more comprehensive impression than they can get from a data sheet. “This is another unique selling point that Husum has as an exhibition venue”, concludes Peter Becker.
