Good energy at the record-breaking HUSUM WindEnergy 2012

24.09.2012

60% of exhibition spaces for 2014 already sold

Husum, 21 September 2012 – The leading wind energy trade fair, which saw approx. 36,000 visitors and 1171 exhibitors, ends tomorrow, Saturday. This represents a 20% increase in the number of exhibitors over the last WindEnergy in 2010. This is a record in the 23-year history of the wind trade fair in Husum. 60% of the 58,000 m² exhibition site has already been sold for the 2014 trade fair. The Windallianz partners, which include Deutsche Messe AG and the German Wind Energy Association (BWE), and everyone else involved is well set for continuing to offer the wind industry a strong platform in the future. Exhibitors expressed their satisfaction with the most recent HUSUM WindEnergy, which as of now is again presenting itself on the international wind trade fair market under its official brand name “HUSUM Wind”.

The 13th HUSUM WindEnergy bade farewell to exhibitors and visitors on Saturday with the “windcareer” job fair. The international wind energy industry put on a strong and confident performance that demonstrated its innovativeness in Husum. New emerging markets are appearing. “Never before have there been so many countries with wind activities; there are plants and systems in 75 countries. And never before have so many states exceeded the critical 1000 MW mark: currently 22. However, if the market is to continue to develop in this way, then the framework conditions have to remain stable," Dr. Klaus Rave, Chairman of the Global Wind Energy Council GWEC, summed up the opportunities for the international wind energy market. In his
capacity as speaker of the advisory board of HUSUM WindEnergy, Dr. Rave is also proud of the record number of exhibitors at the fair, especially in view of the tremendous challenges that face the global wind energy market.

Following the positive feedback from customers, exhibitors and visitors, Peter Becker, managing director of the trade fair, is looking forward even more to the 25th anniversary of the Husum wind fair in 2014. “The tremendous encouragement that we received at the HUSUM WindEnergy, and which is reflected in the current bookings situation, fills us with confidence. We shall be holding HUSUM Wind, the world’s biggest wind trade fair, here in Husum again in 2014.” Peter Becker announced an even closer co-operation with the partners in the Windallianz, which was founded in 2011, and which includes Deutsche Messe AG and the BWE among its members.

Deutsche Messe AG alternates the international wind trade fair annually between Husum and HANOVER MESSE. “Alternating between Husum and Hanover has proved to be an excellent decision. The wind industry has confirmed its innovativeness here in Husum, and is looking forward to the coming year with confidence. And we are delighted to then offer the wind industry a unique inter ational and economic setting with the HANOVER MESSE. With the leading issue of ‘Integrated industry' and Russia as our partner country, we shall offer our exhibitors lots of different possibilities for establishing and developing international customer associations,” said Oliver Frese, division manager at Deutsche Messe AG.
To Peter Becker and his team, the records results of this year’s trade fair confirm their commitment. “At a time when the industry is facing particular challenges, once again the HUSUM WindEnergy has managed to bring the industry together emotionally, and to strengthen it.” Programme highlights of the 2012 trade fair included the official opening by Peter Altmaier, Federal Minister of the Environment, the launch of the new V126-3.0 MW system by Vestas with a rotor diameter of 126 m, designed for use in low-wind areas, and the visit by Prince Joachim of Denmark.

About HUSUM WindEnergy

The spirit of those early days is revived at the HUSUM WindEnergy, and is what makes it a unique industry event with a very strong character. HUSUM WindEnergy is organised by Messe Husum & Congress, and it is financed as a limited company exclusively by private means. HUSUM Wind will celebrate its 25th anniversary in 2014.
