12.12.2011

Husum, 12 December 2011. As part of a fact-finding mission about offshore and onshore wind power organised by the German Chamber of Industry and Commerce in Japan, one of the biggest Japanese trade delegations in recent years visited the HUSUM WindEnergy exhibition venue. Today (12 September), permanent secretary for economic affairs, Dr. Tamara Zieschang, welcomed 45 Japanese wind power industry representatives from industrial companies, utilities and research institutions. The purpose of the mission is to exchange theoretical and practical information and experiences with the German wind industry.

Messe Husum & Congress welcomed 45 prominent representatives of the Japanese wind power industry in Husum today, Monday 12 December 2011. The mission has been organised as part of the Renewable Energy Export Initiative, and supported by the German Ministry of Economics and Technology (BMWi).

“This international visit demonstrates the worldwide interest in Schleswig-Holstein and the North Frisia region as a leading wind power region, and the great reputation that our production know-how has in the international wind energy industry”, said the permanent secretary.

“In the area surrounding the wind exhibition venue, the delegation members can marvel at more than 2,600 wind turbines, which make Husum the biggest wind industry showroom. This important visit shows once again that our town really is the world capital of the wind industry”, said Husum Exhibition & Congress managing director Peter Becker.

The Japanese delegation started their mission with a seminar at Messe Husum & Congress, which included a presentation about the Renewable Energy Export Initiative, talks about Germany as a business base for wind energy, and the development of wind power in Japan. The day was rounded off with a networking event in the evening for personal contact between the Japanese delegation and German wind power experts. Other destinations for the fact-finding mission are Cuxhaven, Bremerhaven, Emden and Aurich.
